Removing Unwanted ArtefactsAchieving a perfect composition can be extremely difficult and time-consuming, especially in a busy or dynamic environment. Often, it is only when you look at the picture after the event that you think "This would be a nice picture if that lamppost/person/car/graffiti wasn't there." All is not lost! Take a look at the following picture of a Hurricane taken at the Branscombe Air Day. It's a nice angle of the plane, but impossible to avoid the people in the background. However, with a bit of work, this can be tidied up nicely. Move your mouse over the image to see the difference.
: Notice that not only are the people and their shadows removed, but I have also disposed of the tents, caravans and telegraph pole, leaving a nice clean image.
Here is another example. I wanted to use an image of the Post Office in a leaflet, but I felt there was a bit too much clutter spoiling the look of it, such as cables, aerials etc. Move your mouse over the image to see the enhanced result. I think the final image is much more appealing, especially with a more interesting sky and a brighter frontage:
I think you will agree that some memories are better without unwanted and irrelevant clutter! |
