Selective Decolourisation

Although this is not a repair technique, the selective removal of colour from areas of an image can pull the viewer's focus to a specific item.

I managed to capture a lovely image of my son on the beach one evening as he looked for shells. Although I like the composition, I felt that the image could be improved by removing the colour from the background to pull the eye even more onto the subject. Move your mouse over the image to see the result. This can be a very effective way of highlighting a specific focal point, especially when the original image is busy.
